Ms. Alice Deborah Denton was born on June 22, 1950, in Hamtramck, Michigan, to George Grant Sr. and Dorothy Grant. She attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Osborn High School. Later, she moved to Washington, DC, to attend Howard University. Alice was a dedicated member of Church of Our Father Missionary Baptist, where she professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age.
In 1974, Alice joined the United States Air Force and served for 20 years, rising through the ranks to become a Technical Sergeant. She was a committed and dedicated service member who represented the United States proudly, taking on foreign or domestic assignments. Even after her retirement, Alice remained active in military causes, volunteering with the Military Care Ministry at her church and visiting retired veterans, among other activities. Alice's outgoing nature, kindness, and generosity made her a beloved friend and auntie to many. She touched many lives and her impact was felt far beyond her immediate circle.
Alice passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Grant and George Grant Sr., and her sister, Jacqueline Marie. Alice is survived by her brother George Grant Jr., sister Alyson D. Grant, and a host of family and friends. Alice was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden at the time of her passing.
