Alfonzo Dennis Garner, Sr. was born on September 1, 1959, in Washington, D.C. to the late Catherine Pitts and Arthur Garner. He had several siblings and attended Anacostia Senior High school before he joined the U.S. Army. While in the military he was a trained Boxer and traveled to Germany, New York, Georgia, Kentucky and many other places. Before his Honorable discharge, he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas.
On April 16, 1987, he married his wife Vanessa L. (Canady) Garner. They were blessed with two beautiful children Alfonzo Dennis Garner, Jr. and Tamara Garner. He later joined the Army Reserves and was stationed at Fort Meade, Maryland. He worked many years as a Correctional Officer in Lorton, Virginia and later did Security and Loss Prevention. Dennis was huge fan of the Washington Redskins/Commanders, enjoyed watching action movies and loved to cook for his family and others.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years Vanessa, their children Alfonzo Jr., Tamara and his oldest daughter Sevetra Peoples-Brown. His bonus child and best friend Butch the family dog will also miss Dennis.
