Alison Alexis Cornette was born on June 17, 1964 in the beautiful mining town of Linden Guyana. This precious baby girl was a wonderful blessing to her parents the late Raphael and Gwendolyn Cornette as they welcomed her into this world. Alison was a beautiful little girl with a normal childhood. As she grew, she attended St. Aidan’s Primary school and later matriculated at the Wismar Multicultural school. She was not satisfied with just an academic education so after graduating high school she enrolled in the Parris Business Institute in order to acquire some technical skills.
Alison became an entrepreneur as she followed her mother’s footsteps in trading goods from Brazil. She operated her business on Burnham Drive Linden for many years. She was affectionately called “Ms Alo” by her customers. In 1987, Alison and Mr Samuel Neischer-Hardy welcomed their daughter Abiola Alexis Neischer-Hardy. Abby, as she is affectionately called is Alison’s only child and her pride and joy.
Alison was a spiritual woman! She attended the Fruits of Calvary Church. Her love for God was evident in her constant singing of the religious songs and hymns. Her singing was the true reflection of her soul. In 2006, she held a job for a short while at the Barima Lumber Co. However, the desire to spread her wings abroad caused her to move to Trinidad in 2007. She was employed as a chef at Zack’s. In 2011, Alison migrated to the United States. She wasted no time in acquiring her Home Health Aide certificate and was employed by Partners in Care. Her pastime activities include knitting, crocheting, and cooking. In 2017, she took ill and struggled with that illness until her passing on May 9, 2024 at the Medstar Franklin Square Medical Facility.
Alison will be missed by those who loved her dearly. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving daughter Abiola Alexis Neischer-Hardy, dear grandchildren: Jenacia Alexis Ross and Wineta Jelissa Ross, Siblings Compton Andre Taylor, Doreen Cornette and Hilton Cornette; Uncle & Aunts: Thomas Daniel’s, Shirley Daniel’s and Roseline E Wong; Nephews & Nieces: Michael Jason Taylor, Jevon Taylor, Jamal Taylor, Jarrell Taylor, Jason Taylor, Rayann Shanie Taylor, Faith June Taylor, Cerexie Ruth Taylor, Serena Triana Taylor, Katina Taylor; Cousins: Mary Ann Nichols, Winnette Daniels, Shirley Daniels, Wavney Daniels, Wilma Daniels, Vernon Nicholas, Troy Nicholas, Dwayne Nicholas; Friends: Bernard Austin, Dolette Powers, Gwennette Gillis-Kassim, the Peters, Gilgeous, George.
