Almarie leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons Oscar Jr. (Robin) and Joseph (Mia) of Washington, DC two grandchildren, Joseph Isaiah (Andrea) Harper and Bethany (Lavell) Harper Johnson; Six great-grandchildren, Dashia, David, D’Nia, Love, Grace and Ezra; and three great-great grandchildren, Delonte, Chase and Ania. Along with her siblings who fondly called her ‘Lois’ brothers Jessie James (Lucinda); Thomas Jefferson Buchanan and her baby-sister who has been her loving house companion and remained by her side at passing Arlee McCoy Coley. Her just-like sons Angelo Horton and Pierre Franklin and a host of just-like children, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and Peace Baptist saints will also miss her. We thank God for blessing us with so many years of her love and care.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Cephus and Jessie Mae Buchanan and siblings Melvin Mathew Buchanan, Arthur Leroy Buchanan, Wilhelmina Buchanan Dixon and Emma Mellonie Buchanan White; her husband whom she affectionately called “Jerry,” daughter Sheila Harper Wheeler, and a grandson David Jamal Harper.
