Carl leaves to cherish his precious memories and a legacy of love and devotion to his caring, dedicated, faithful, and loving wife of over 66 years, the woman he knew in the eighth grade he would one day marry, Alma, affectionately called by him “Almond Joy”; his four daughters: Felecia (James, Sr.), Sherrill (Melvin, Jr.), Shelley (a.k.a. Tijuana), and LaNelle (Rick).
His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren: Gregory Jr. (Nika), Ryan, James Jr. (Tai), Melvin III (Andrea), Jasmin (Damian), Justin, Jireh, and Jordan; and his four great-grandchildren: Zachary, Sophia, Corey, and Nia. Also left to remember him with love and admiration are his sisters, Doris, Hortense (Dennis) , and Shirley; his devoted and caring brother-in-law, Thomas; his sisters-in-law, Ethel and Vanessa; and his adopted daughters, Lula and Margo. Carl also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly and treasure his memory.
Carl had one brother, Edwin, who preceded him in death.
