Darnell Tyrone Feelings, Sr.

Darnell Tyrone Anthony Feelings, Sr., the only child of Osborne Eugene and Clara Elizabeth Feelings was born in Washington, DC, on July 15, 1952. Darnell transitioned from this life to join his beloved parents in heaven on February 7, 2023.

Educated in the DC public school system, Darnell graduated from McKinley Technical High School in 1970. He was totally enthralled with the growing field of computers, and his dream was to become a systems programmer for IBM. His journey to accomplish his dream began by attending Lear Siegler Institute for Computer Science and graduated in 1971.

That same year, he married his high-school sweetheart and soulmate, Denise Smith. In 1972, Darnell joined the U.S. Armed Services Airforce Branch. He and Denise welcomed the first of their three children, Gail. By the time he returned to civilian life in 1977, they had welcomed their other two children, Angelique and Darnell, II.

In 1979 Darnell moved his family to upstate New York for an opportunity to join IBM in the operations division. The opportunity to transfer to operations in Maryland brought Darnell back to Maryland in 1980. He would continue his systems programmer journey by attending and graduating at the top of his class from Strayer University with an Associate degree in Computer Programming (graduate 1984) and a Bachelor of Computer Science degree in 1985. His dream of being a systems programmer came to fruition in 1986. His knowledge and
proficiency in both operations and programming afforded him a unique skill set. He thoroughly enjoyed working on projects which utilized these skills, and did so until illness forced him to stop working.

Darnell joined Southern Baptist Church, where the Senior Serving Shepherd is Charles H. Doom, Jr., in 1995. Here learned to trust and worship our Living God.  He loved the Music, Fine Arts and Deacons ministries, and thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his church family.  Darnell leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 52 years, Denise; his 2nd mother beloved ‘Aunt’ Mickie, his uncle Bishop Rufus Dunn, his children Gail (Troy), Angelique (Antonio), and Darnell II (Veena); 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a host of cousins; and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
