David L. Jones, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to all, went to be with the Lord on Saturday following a brief illness. He is the son of Melvin and Sandra (Smith) Frye.
David grew up in Altoona and graduated from Altoona Area High School, Class of 1994, where he was a standout three-sport athlete. Following in his father’s footsteps, he received the Joseph F. Cohen “A” Blanket for his superior play and leadership on the football field. He lettered in track, helping his team win the District 6 title; and in wrestling, winning many tournaments throughout his career.
David attended and played football for Lock Haven University before joining the United States Air Force in 1997. He completed his duty and was honorably discharged in 2000. David then became employed by the United States Government in the Department of the Navy’s Intel Financing as a Budget Analyst where he still worked.
David married his best friend, Syreeta (Tate), on Nov. 4, 2006. He had three sons: Daelyn in Virginia, and Elias and Kaiden of Bowie, Md. David’s family was his life. He spent countless hours coaching, traveling, and cheering for his boys on the soccer field. He made so many trips home to Altoona to spend time with family, and never missed his yearly family beach trips to Wildwood, N.J. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.
David is survived by his wife; three sons; his parents; a sister, Michelle Fasolo (Dom) of Altoona; mother-in-law, Lue Tate; extended family: Keturah Stroy (Lee), Zak Tate and Bryan Tate; and nieces and nephews: Alyssa, Lindsey and Dominic of Altoona, and Nesa, Damani, Laila, Maya, and Nyla in Virginia. David was preceded in death by grandparents, Dick and Evie Jones of Mifflintown, Clarence and Lois Frye and Elmer and Hazel Smith of Altoona; and his father-in-law, Andrew “Sarge” Tate.
