Emma Jane (Garnett) McNair

Emma leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith. She is survived by her siblings Elizabeth Garnett, Nettie Johnson, Robert Garnett, and Joseph GarnettBey (Linda Garnett); her children Derrick Fenner (Christy Fenner), Willie Woodrow McNair Jr. (Mona McNair), Senetra Burns (Vernon Burns Jr.), and Kevin Lamont Brown; and her goddaughter Danetta Adams. She was a proud grandmother to Erika Fenner, Derrick Fenner Jr., Byron McNair, Brooklyn McNair, Daji Dix, Lawanda Burns, Lanetta Burns, Vernon Burns III, Diamiani Brown, Denee’ Brown, Anija Brown, and Aaliyha Alicia Brown. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren Estella Hughes, Spear Fenner III, Honor Fenner, Praise Fenner, Kareem Sabah, KaHire’ Thomas, Zynia-Marie Burns, Rose Star Burns, ‘Emya Jane’ Coleman, ZYaheir Brown-Ogburn, and Yahri BrownOgburn. She was also a beloved aunt to her late husband’s family and will be greatly missed by Joanne Adkins, Donna and Paula Williams, Lawanda Leonard, and their extended family members.  Emma will also be fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends near and far.

Her love reached so many. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit touched everyone who knew her. Her love for others was an expression of her deep faith, and her life was a living testimony of God’s grace, as she helped family, friends, or even strangers. Emma Jane McNair will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
