James Durant

James “Jim” Durant, 62, peacefully departed this life on May 26, 2026. Jim was a devoted husband to Harriet Brown-Durant, loving father to Shaun Mack (Tisa), Albert Brown, James L. Durant, Tasia Durant, Ciara Brown, and Angel Brown, and proud grandfather to Khalil Brown, Ari Brown, and Taj Jackson.

Jim was known for his larger-than-life personality, infectious sense of humor, and ability to make anyone feel like family. Whether he was cooking on the grill, watching his beloved Washington Commanders, fixing things around the house, or sharing a joke, he brought joy wherever he went. A faithful member of One Church DMV and a dedicated member of its Security Team, Jim also served his community as a certified chef, CPR/First Aid responder, and volunteer for community events.

He will be remembered as a devoted family man, loyal friend, and a man whose laughter, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
