Jaquelyn Hodgson Obituary

Jaquelyn Careen Hodgson-Robb, also known as “Jackie” or “Grandma Jackie” was born in Bluefields, Nicaragua to Ms. Agnes Robb (deceased) and Egbert Hodgson (deceased) on July 18, 1948, and passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2022, at the age of 74.

Jackie is one of many children, Hurse (deceased), Loudell, Rose Marie, Myrtle (deceased), Roy (deceased), Raymond, Beverly (deceased), Ivette, Betty Lou, Eloise, and Anthony.

She is survived by her three children, Dean, Lucas, and Norma; her grandchildren Arrington (deceased) Luis, Shaquana, Tehanna, Isaiah, Hailey, Alyssa, Ludell, Annisse, and Trent; her great-grandson, Nazer; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, and adopted grandchildren.

Jackie was a devoted caregiver, and avid churchgoer who lived and loved to support her loved ones and her church home at the Faith Moravian Church of the nation’s capital where she became a member upon her relocation from her home country of Nicaragua to Washington, DC, USA. During the Nicaraguan revolution, she established her own underground railroad to help save the lives of many young men by assisting them in fleeing the dangers of Nicaragua’s civil warfare. Jackie loved helping others and had a passion for caring for the youth in her family, neighborhood, and church, and she loved each of them dearly as her own. She has many friends whom she deeply cared for and made a great effort to remain consistently present in their lives no matter what. She had a passion for serving others in any way that they needed and in any way that she could.

Jackie enjoyed years of cooking, coordinating, decorating, fundraising, and spearheading anything that she was able for her church, family, and friends’ celebrations and events. One could not have a problem that Jackie was not ready to solve. She was a force in the lives of so many young men, and women and will surely bring smiles and much happiness in the memories of her unforgettable personality. She is and will continue to be deeply missed by all who knew her.
