Joan Grant Obituary

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Please join us to mourn the passing of our beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Joan Grant, 78, who passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center after a short illness.

Joan was born on February 24, 1943 in Bartica, Guyana to Mearl and Wilfred Jack. Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. Her perseverance and strength made her successful in accomplishing many things including being an on air personality for the Guyana Broadcasting System, migrating with three children to North America on her own, and advancing professionally as the Vice President of the National Urban Coalition.

She is survived by five siblings (Edwin, Evelyn, Una, Wilfred, and Desiree), three children (Mark, Michelle, and Haslyn (Mani)), 9 grandchildren , and 4 great grandchildren .

Her love, wit, and devotion to family will remain in our hearts forever.
