On Tuesday, August 2, 2022 Lewis Dexter Starkes transitioned peacefully. He is the beloved husband of Michelle J. Starkes, Upper Marlboro, MD, loving father of Lewis T. Starkes, Upper Marlboro, MD dear son of Elnora Starkes (Bishop Benjamin F.) Brooks, Columbia, SC and the late Milton L. Starkes. Dexter as he was affectionately called is also survived by his mother-in-law: Maloyna W. Johnson, Fredericksburg, VA; aunts Helen Aiken, Cayce, SC; Margaret English, Gaston, SC; Marjorie Cokley, Columbia, SC, Malissa Starkes McNairy, West Columbia, SC; uncles Bobby Starkes, West Columbia, SC; Clyde Joseph Starkes, West Columbia, SC; brothers-in-law: Kevin (Serita) Johnson, St. Cloud, FL; Kenneth (Laura) Johnson, Stafford, VA
sister-in-law: Veronica (Javier) Johnson Farias, Castro Valley, CA; aunts-in-law: Anita (James) Jackson, Bumpass, VA; Toni Moon, Louisville, KY; Mattie (Sonny) Hutson, Woodbridge, VA; stepsisters Erica (Wade) Bridgeman, Gaston, SC; Shenice (Gregory) Louree, Poughkeepsie, NY; stepbrother Andrew Jeffcoat, Swansea, SC; his beloved pet Coco, Upper Marlboro, MD; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
