Lillian Lorretta (Rollins) Henson

Lillian Lorretta Henson was born in Washington, DC to the late Daniel and Edna Rollins on December 7, 1937, the younger of two siblings.  She was formally educated and graduated from Dunbar High School in Washington, DC.  Lillian was called to eternal rest on October 16, 2021.

In 1955, Lillian was joined in marriage to George Brown.  From this union came three boys, Kevin, Everette and Stephen Brown.  Also, there was another union in 1968 between Lillian Henson (then Brown) and James Lewis McCray which brought forth daughter, Toi Lynn Brown (now Johnson). Lillian was employed and the first female to be hired in 1972 at METRO TRANSIT BUS CO. in Corral Hills, MD.  She retired in the mid 1990’s after about 30 plus years of service. From that she lived a happy, carefree life with her dogs Bandit then Brynner.  Also, she was a breath of fresh air to anyone that crossed her path with her smile, laughter, and wisdom.  

She enjoyed going to Atlantic City and Dover Downs and various shopping trips with her daughter Toi. There were many memorable Mother’s Days, Thanksgiving dinners Lillian spent with son, daughter, son‐in‐law and grandchildren. Lillian was a kind soul and known to always be there and care for others when in need, especially offering a hot meal, a cold beer and a nice beverage of your liking and her favorite saying was “you be alright”. During the past three years, Lillian was a resident at Doctors Rehabilitation Center in Lanham, MD. She enjoyed the staff and nurses who provided excellent care during her time there. Everyone loved her bright spirit, attitude, and shine she brought to the facility.  Meeting and greeting the staff or guests when they entered her room. She enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows, old westerns and keeping up with the local news.   

Lillian leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Toi Lynn Johnson, son, Kevin G. Brown, son‐in‐law, Antonio Johnson   Grandchildren:  Donte Johnson, Anisha Dawson, Brande Brown, Jordan Brown and Evette Brown.    Great grandchildren:  Michai Dawson, Larrell Walker, Chancellor Walker, Aliyah Walker, Aryana Collins, Jordan Brown, Jr., Alayah Brown Nieces:  Authella Howell, Carlton & Jacqueline Gregory, Emogene and Justine Matthews and a host of family and friends.
