Linda Marie Bartholomew (Née) Russ transitioned peacefully on September 21st 2024. Born July 31st 1957, a native of New Orleans, LA she often displayed much love and affection for her city. She was predeceased and greeted at heaven’s door by her father Benjamin Russ and son Mentrell Bartholomew. She traveled and lived in various cities, while she maintained her loyalty to the NOLA.
She shared many fond and happy memories in Chicopee, Massachusetts, and Bowie Maryland. Fierce and fiery, she will be remembered for her big loving heart. She embodied the phrase “to a heart is through the stomach”. She had various roles and was lovingly referred to as Nanny, Auntie, Grandma, and Ma. If you were blessed enough to visit her home, you were fed. She would feed a stranger and feed them in abundance. Those close to her will remember her for her cooking, especially her own mix of “seasonings”. While remembered for her cooking and queen of the kitchen, she could be thought of dancing and singing to songs from Aaron Neville to Luther Vandross. Linda loved to smile and laugh and enjoy time with family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by her mother Gloria Russ, her sons Dameion Russ and Gavin Miller, her sisters Denise Edokpayi, Constance Smallwood, and Patricia Thomas, brother-in law Lugard Edokpayi, daughter-in-law Gloria Russ, and daughter-in-love Jilena Cichon; her grandchildren that she was so very proud of and often bragged about, Deja and Dameion Russ, Jeric Cichon, and EnDameion Cichon-Russ; and her nieces and nephews Ashley Smallwood, Colby Sears Jr., and Ashley, Jasmine, Jalyn, and Lugard Edokpayi Jr.
She drew on her strength and leaves a vibrant legacy in those she leaves behind, but she will always remain in their hearts and with us in spirit. “You can now dance with your father again.”
