Melvyn L. Ivy, Sr. was born on September 6, 1943, in Washington, to the late Mozella J. Preston and S. Laddie Ivy. On May 5, 2026, he peacefully answered God’s call from labor to reward. A proud native Washingtonian, Melvyn loved his city deeply and carried that pride with him throughout his life.
Melvyn leaves to cherish his precious memory: his devoted wife, Charlene D. Ivy; his loving daughter, Chandelle R. Ivy; his beloved son, Melvyn L. “Skooter” Ivy, II; and his devoted daughter-in-love, Elizabeth R. Ivy. He also leaves four treasured grandchildren: L. Kaden, Sommer A., Hailey M., and Bryce J.; bonus children Dr. Cassandra D. Davis, Tamara T. Ballard, and Noel L. Robinson, Jr.; goddaughter Khili D. Benston; special cousins Eddie Henderson and Edward T. Flanagan, Jr.; cherished nephews Anthony “Tony” E. Doores and Demond A. Lyles; his dedicated secretary and dear friend, Evora Powell; along with a host of loving relatives, friends, church family, colleagues, clients, and all whose lives were touched by his wisdom, humor, kindness, and unwavering love.
