Tyrone Anthony Bryant, a man whose love and protective nature knew no boundaries, passed away on August 17, 2023. Born on April 5, 1952, in Washington, D.C., to James (William) and Mary Bryant, he stood as the second eldest among six siblings. Tyrone's journey began with mischievous boyhood days, earning endearing nicknames like "BoJack" and "Taterhead." His educational path led him through Amidon Anthony Bowen Elementary, Jefferson Jr. High School, Phelps Vocational School, and Spingarn High School, culminating in a History major at Howard University. He also became a Mason in the esteemed Charles Datcher Lodge #15.
A charismatic salesman, Tyrone owned and operated Ducts R Us and various cleaning companies, businesses showcasing his commitment to service. He also served as a Captain at the Oakhill Detention Center for two decades, mentoring at-risk youth. He embraced fatherhood not just for his children, but for countless others he loved as his own. Tyrone's vibrant personality, independence, and loving partnerships defined his life. His devotion to his wife Janet, whom he affectionately called "headquarters," spanned 43 loving years. With unwavering faith, Tyrone's love and spirit will be forever cherished.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Bryant; his children, Tiva and Frank (Allene) Bryant and Shawn Brown (and family); his grandchildren, Brian Bryant, Rylee Bryant, Franki Bryant, Benjamin Lewter, and Elle Bryant; and a multitude of family and friends; his memory lives on as a beacon of faith, family, and unwavering love.
