Wayne Ferguson Obituary

 

Wayne Larnell Ferguson was born in Washington, District of Columbia to the late Yvonne Wills McGoines and the late Robert E. Ferguson.  He departed this life at approximately 1:30AM on January 24, 2022, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

Wayne grew up in the Parkland Community of Southeast D.C.  He was educated in the D.C. Public School System and was a proud 1979 graduate of Frank W. Ballou High School, where he played football.  Shortly after receiving his high school diploma, he joined the United States Air Force.  He was stationed in Indian Springs, Nevada and Geilenkirchen, Germany and served in various administrative and leadership rolesat the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. for 17 of his 21 years of military service.  Wayne retired as a Master Sergeant (E7) and was honorably discharged in 2001. 

Shortly after retiring from the military, Wayne began working in the private sector.  He later transitioned as a civilian employed first at the Defense Travel Management Office and later at the General Services Administration in Washington, D.C. as a Business Management Specialist, where he worked until his passing.

He leaves to cherish his memories two devoted and loving children:  his son, Jarren Davon Ferguson (Nailah) of Houston, Texas; and his daughter, Jacquelyn Demetria Ferguson of Laurel, Maryland; his granddaughter, Jaicee Harper Ferguson of Houston, Texas; his former spouse, Adrienne Thornton Ferguson of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; his siblings:  Paul Maurice Harkins of Clinton, Maryland; Tajuana Renee Jackson of District Heights, Maryland; Carlos Lang McGoines (Adriane) of Raleigh, North Carolina; Phyllis Towana Ammons (Carl) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Robert Bobby Ferguson (Maria) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Stanley Ferguson of Clinton, Maryland (deceased); his Aunts: Lorraine Wills of Washington, D.C. and Georgene Stevens (Alexander) of Washington, D.C.; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and other relatives and friends.
